Books

Many of the books in this
section are wonderful read alouds for younger and older

reading, these books can pique their interest.

and others.
- Bishop, Claire. The
Five Chinese Brothers.

- Hoban, Russell. Bedtime
for Frances, and others (our all time favourites!)
- Kingsley, Charles. The
Water Babies.

and Martha, and others.

Few kids authors
understand kids better than Russell Hoban. In his Frances
books, a little precocious hedgehog deals with the
difficulties of life when you're five or six. She is
wonderful, and so are all the Frances books. I've linked to
one of them here:
In an old house in Paris, that was covered with vines,
lived twelve little girls in two straight lines...The movie
doesn't do justice to these wonderful books. A must have.
What do you do on a hot day? Follow the
pig in the pond, in a funny book full of rhythm and rhyme.
A largely forgotten book that deserves to be remembered. Two kids are
sent to their grandfather's place where they expect to be
bored, but he wows them with hilarious stories.
A book of friendship and juxtaposition. Another winner!
