Books for 4-6 (Pre-Readers)

Many of the books in this section are wonderful read alouds for younger and older children, too. But for those kids who are just on the brink of reading, these books can pique their interest.

Few kids authors understand kids better than Russell Hoban. In his Frances books, a little precocious hedgehog deals with the difficulties of life when you're five or six. She is wonderful, and so are all the Frances books. I've linked to one of them here:
